I had some difficulty grasping you here. I think what you’re saying has some depth but, admittedly, I got a bit lost.
From what I think I get, I’d say this:
Yes, there is something wrong in the lower-your-standards attitude. It’s a victim-type treatment that black people have no need for - you’re attitude, which is right, is that you can get there on your own. It’s not about standards being lowered, it’s about them being level. I get it.
Okay, but in terms of SOLUTIONS. Isn’t there also something harmfully patronizing is saying or at any level believing that black people need to be UPLIFTED before they can succeed. As if they can’t do it on merit alone…It’s the same sort of underestimating.
I believe merit must be king. Hardwork must be king. The gospel of grit god - it's always been the Christian God and, for that matter, the God of rap, hip-hop, and a million other black institutions. The gospel of merit speaks to black people. And the more black people that believe this, the better they will get, and the better they get the better for the world. And THIS is the way things will finally become "level", it's organic leveling...How you like that?
